I chose Beersheba Springs Medical Clinic as one of my sites as I was inspired by their mission "to promote, protect, and improve the health of persons (especially the medically indigent) living in, working in, or visiting Beersheba Springs and the surrounding area." Numerous patients struggling with illnesses from common colds to diabetes can only receive medical attention through this clinic due to their financial limitations. The clinic therefore provides such patients with not only the medical help they need, but also an assortment of free medications. As a Bonner Leader on the Pre-Medicine track, my responsibilities at the clinic vary from filing patients' documents to helping fill their medications. I intend on dedicating the next four years of my college career to helping the clinic expand while gaining more knowledge and experience about rural medicine.
